Golf Courses in Raleigh: Web Design Gallery

With mild weather almost 9 nine months of the year, the greater Raleigh-Durham-Cary-Wake Forest area is a natural fit for golf, which explains the number of golf courses and golf clubs that are found in the area. For all the golfers out there in the Raleigh and greater Triangle area, there are some excellent courses to play the links on, from public courses to university courses to private clubs.

I thought it would be interesting to look at the websites for some of the golf courses here in the Raleigh-Durham-Cary-Wake Forest area, to see if their websites are as nice as their fairways. Below are some of the best website designs of Raleigh golf courses. Some of them are definitely better than others, making better use of large photos, which as a web designer should be a given for any business niche like this, with beautiful outdoor areas that are perfect for high-definition photos. In any case, they all made my list because of their unique website designs, their use of large photos on the websites, and their overall design creativity.

Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s time to take a half day and go hit the links. Fore!

Raleigh Country Club – Raleigh, NC

This is one of my favorites because it’s exactly my design style, with the large pictures used throughout the clean and user-friendly design. It’s interesting to note that this website is the same layout as that used by TPC Wakefield Plantation (Raleigh, NC) and Treyburn Country Club (Durham, NC), so either all three golf courses have the same owner, or this is a template.

Hillandale Golf Course – Durham, NC

The only reason I include this on the list is because on their homepage, I really like the three smaller photos that have labels and call-to-action buttons. As a web designer, that’s something that I find very useful to do and try to include in my website designs. The rest of the website, unfortunately, leaves something to be desired.

Croasdaile Country Club – Durham, NC

I like the way they used the large photos in the website’s design, particular on the homepage with the way there are three blocks across the middle, each corresponding to a different call-to-action. That’s definitely something as a web designer, I would incorporate into my website designs.

Heritage Golf Club – Wake Forest, NC

I like the use of four smaller images on the homepage, but unfortunately the rest of the website isn’t anything special. The large photos could be a lot crisper, the placement of the main menu is just awkward and easy-t0-miss, and everything below the fold is one big jumble of text. It’s a good start, but needs to be taken to the next level.
